We offer several acquisition modes to adapt to your usage and budget.We have two ways to purchase a dataset on MICHELIN SIMIX : one lifetime and the other time-limited. What we sell is not the intellectual property of the datasets, but the right to use the datasets.

RENTAL License
It includes a time-limited right to use for the defined scope. This means that you can use it for a predefined period of time. On MICHELIN SIMIX, we offer three possible rental durations (which vary depending on the type of dataset): 3 months, 6 months, or 1 year.

LIFETIME License
This license grants you perpetual right to use (lifetime duration) within a certain scope (zone/world, client/subcontractors, vehicle project, etc...). This means that you can use your dataset indefinitely.

License Activation
The right to use starts when the file is first downloaded. The right to use expires after n months: this means that you can no longer use it after the right to use has expired.

License Expiration
When your license (the duration of your right to use) expires, you have the option to extend it beyond the initial duration by paying 150% of the price difference between the initial duration and the amended duration.

The results of your simulations after the license expiration
Intellectual property remains the sole property of MICHELIN SIMIX: the datasets for which you have right to use cannot be transferred, sold, sub-licensed, etc... But the results of calculations/simulations are your sole property, even after the right to use expiration. In practice, this means that you can no longer run simulations, but you can still use the output files and the results from your simulations.

Our approach to supporting our clients and offering maximum flexibility is to provide right to use for our datasets. In practical terms, these right to use may either cover a defined period of time or be granted on a lifetime basis, meaning with no time limitation. However, we do not transfer intellectual property, and therefore certain rules must be respected as outlined in our general terms of use. This includes, in particular, the rules regarding the transfer of right to use and the scope of application: our datasets are intended to support simulation activities within a chassis development context, and not for reverse-engineering purposes.

Working with partners
We understand that you may sometimes need to work and share data with partners (subcontractors, contractors, etc.), and for this reason we offer solutions to adapt right to use to your specific application. For example, upon request, we can transfer right to use to your partners. For any questions, please feel free to contact us.

What happens if the physical tire model changes ? How does this impact the dataset ?

Tire maintenance WITHOUT significant performance change
If the object represented by the dataset undergoes minor modifications without a significant impact on performance, there is no reason to update the dataset.
In general, this means that the physical product reference number remains unchanged.

Tire maintenance WITH significant performance change
If the object represented by the dataset undergoes minor modifications that lead to a significant impact on performance (typically resulting in an update of the product reference number), we can provide you with the latest updated version of the dataset.

• For rental datasets:
We will provide the updated dataset if you choose to extend the rental after the expiration of the initial period.

• For perpetual licenses:
If you have purchased a perpetual right to use, we can offer an upgrade to the updated dataset at a preferential price.

Evolution of modeling methods
Our methods for dataset creation are state-of-the-art so they are future proof.
Nevertheless, we continuously invest in research and development. If our new methods result in enhanced dataset capabilities that could benefit you, we can offer an upgrade at a very attractive price.

If the issue is related to improving your team’s skills in analyzing or understanding results, this service will be billed based on the scope of your needs and handled on a case-by-case basis.

All our datasets are tested before being sent, and the probability of a bug or error is virtually nonexistent, or extremely low.

Nevertheless, rest assured that our datasets are covered by a 2-year warranty (whether you rent a dataset for 3 months to 1 year, or have lifetime access) should any error or inconsistency be detected.

In the unlikely event this occurs, we will provide all necessary support to resolve the issue.
